The Principles and Operations of Reverse Aura for the Nilou-Bloom Team

Reverse aura is the process of switching the aura status of an enemy between Hydro and Dendro. It can enhance the DPS of Nilou-Bloom team like [Nilou, Yelan, Nahida, Baizhu]. This article will discuss the principles and operations of reverse aura.

We know that each enemy can receive a max of 2 explosion damages from the seeds produced by the same character within 0.5 seconds, which is an internal cooldown of 2 hits/0.5s.

Many people believe that the reason why reverse aura can improve Single-Target DPS is that multiple characters making seeds break the limit of 2/0.5 of a single character. Actually, it’s not. In the Single-Target situation, no character can continuously break through 2/0.5, that is, the limit of the element application frequency of 2 times every 0.5 seconds. Therefore, when discussing the Single-Target environment, there is no need to consider this limit too much. So, the following conclusion seems to be correct:

Due to the restraint relationship of Dendro and Hydro, Hydro hitting Dendro is the best way to make seeds. We should let Nahida be on field to attack, maintain the Dendro aura, and ensure that Hydro can trigger Bloom every time elements are applied.

However, actual combat tells us that the team can effectively improve DPS by reverse aura. Here is a simple analysis. After Yelan bursts, we divide it into three situations according to the characters on field. Note that we always need to pay attention to the reaction frequency of the whole process.

Yelan on field

The element application frequency of Yelan’s burst plus Nilou’s Hydro ring makes it easy for the enemy to switch from Dendro aura to Hydro aura. The Hydro application no longer triggers Bloom, and the next Bloom needs to wait for Baizhu’s passive skill or Nahida’s next passive skill to trigger. Since the applicable element does not remain, Nahida’s skill-triggered Middle Dendro has a chance to be simply consumed by the Hydro aura, which fails to apply Middle Dendro Aura to the enemy as expected and further affects the reaction frequency. Therefore, when Yelan on field, the Bloom triggered by the Hydro character is decreased, and the Bloom triggered by the Dendro character is also very limited.

Nahida on field

Nahida’s continuous attack and charge can ensure the Dendro aura throughout the process, so that all Hydro applications can trigger Bloom. Therefore, when Nahida is on field, the reactions of the Hydro character reach the max value, but the Dendro character hardly triggers reactions.

Yelan and Nahida take turns on field

First, Yelan on field applies the Dendro aura into the Hydro aura. At this moment, we switch to Nahida, immediately cause two independent applications through attack and charge, which will most likely switch the Hydro aura back to the Dendro aura. At this time, you can wait for the next skill’s passive trigger. If the skill cooldown is ready, use it actively to ensure that the enemy is given Middle Dendro, and then switch back to Yelan to continue the cycle. Of course, you can also switch back to Yelan directly after Nahida attack, which will have a small chance that the next passive trigger of Nahida’s skill will consume the Hydro aura and waste the Middle Dendro. Looking back at this process, as long as the operation is proper, we have additionally obtained reactions triggered by high mastery Nahida through reversing the Hydro aura without losing the reactions of Hydro Character. This is undoubtedly the highest reaction frequency among the three situations.

In fact, the whole process is about controlling the amount of Dendro element. Simply put, the continuous supply of Dendro elements makes it impossible for Dendro characters to participate in making seeds. The most efficient way is to first reduce the supply of Dendro elements, when Hydro breaks through the Dendro, increase the Dendro elements rapidly at the moment, restore the dominant position of Dendro elements, and raise the amount of Dendro elements to a high level through the application of Middle Dendro, and then reduce the supply of Dendro elements again. The advantage of this is that Hydro almost always has Dendro, but Dendro absorbs extra Hydro through a moment of water overflow.

We can see that the main factors affecting the DPS at this stage are the reaction frequency and the mastery of the seed maker. The reaction frequency is determined by the application frequency. Due to the existence of a single application method timer/counter, the application frequency mainly depends on the number of independent application methods in a short time. Our series of reverse aura are to let the high mastery character participate in making seeds as much as possible without affecting the Hydro character’s seed making.
